It's May!

It is hard to believe that we have completed a whole month of remote learning. Thank you for your continued dedication and your hard work (both students and parents). Education content for at-home learning opportunities will continue to focus on language and mathematics outcomes. There will be opportunities to incorporate science and social studies outcomes through cross-curricular learning, as we have been doing with reading on Kids A-Z and Currents4Kids. Learning About Leaves Through Art

  Students in Room 3 are learning that one of the main ways they can identify a tree is through its leaves, whether it be leaf shape, leaf margin, leaf type or leaf arrangement.  In addition to honing their drawing skills through careful and close observation, students are becoming more experienced using different media, including sharpie, watercolor pencil, watercolors, and chalk pastel.  Here are some examples of student work.

Google Classroom Update

Hello families, Students have been doing an amazing job navigating the first couple of days of online learning.  We are all figuring things out as we go.  Please do not worry if it is taking your online learner a bit longer to figure out how to get work done and turned in.  It is a challenge for all of us and we want to move forward slowly but purposefully, being able to provide students and parents with needed support. Students can communicate with me by posting a private comment while working on an assignment, ask a question of both the teacher and their classmates publicly on “the stream” or request to meet through Google Meet.  Parents, if you would like to speak with me, please send me an email with a preferred phone number and a few suggestions for approximate times and we will get it arranged.  A reminder: you will receive a call from an unknown caller at that time.
